Holt County VINELink Alert Changes
Missouri calls its service the Missouri Victim Automated Notification System, or MOVANS. The state divided its notification routes on May 5, 2026. Local jail custody and Missouri court events continue through VINELink. Notifications tied to people under Missouri Department of Corrections custody now require a new or updated registration directly with MODOC. This split is the most important fact before searching or registering.
Delivery also changed. Current local and court alerts use SMS text or email. Phone-call delivery and VINELink app notifications ended with the transition. For MODOC custody notifications, contact the Office of Victim Services at victims@doc.mo.gov or 573-526-6516, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For local or court MOVANS help, use movans@dps.mo.gov or 573-526-1929 during the same weekday hours.
Current route: Use VINELink for local jail or court events and MODOC directly for state corrections custody notifications.

Holt County VINELink Custody Coverage
VINELink is a person-specific notification and status interface, not a Holt County roster or a permanent release archive. The official Holt County Sheriff's page does not state that the jail feeds MOVANS. Search for the person and a Holt or local agency record, but describe coverage conditionally. If no record appears, call the Sheriff's 24-hour line and ask MOVANS support whether the agency is currently participating.
Local jail and MODOC coverage must not be blended. A Holt County Jail event may appear through the local VINELink path if a participating record exists. A MODOC state-prison event now uses direct MODOC notification registration, even though public status may also appear in the MODOC Offender Web Search. VINELink does not cover federal BOP or ICE custody, and it is not a public parole decision database.
Custody type can change during one case. A person may leave the Holt County Jail for MODOC after a state commitment, for another county on a warrant, or for a federal or immigration authority. That departure is a transfer, not a community release. Read the reporting agency and destination, then move to the receiving system. Case.net can show the state court authority, but the physical custody event must still be confirmed with the jail or receiving agency.

Search for one person at a time. Gather the full name, likely age or birth information, custody agency, and an ID number if known. These details help prevent a same-name mistake. The official interface may change its controls, so follow the labels on the live screen and record the exact status language rather than substituting a broader conclusion.

- Choose the people or custody search offered by the current interface.
- Enter the person's name or ID. Use partial spelling only when an exact search fails.
- Compare the reporting agency, age or birth details, ID, and other identifiers across possible matches.
- Open the likely record and read the custody status, agency, location, and event wording.
- If a release date or event appears, save the exact wording and time checked.
- Confirm the event with the Holt County Sheriff or other named custodian.

Holt County VINELink Release Fields
A participating local record may show custody status, reporting agency or location, identity details, and qualifying events. Availability varies by agency and record. Do not promise a date field unless the live result displays one. If “Released” appears, ask whether the event was release to the community or transfer. A transfer ends one custody placement but does not mean the person is free from custody.

A released Holt County jail detainee may no longer appear in a current-custody view. The county release or transfer entry, Sheriff confirmation, and court docket form the better proof chain. A state prisoner belongs in MODOC search and direct MODOC notification. A federal result belongs in the BOP locator.
VINELink does not serve as an archival field inventory. Agencies can change what they send and how the interface labels it. Write down the exact date, time, status, agency, and event shown. If the wording is unclear, do not convert it into “released.” Preserve the result and ask the reporting agency whether the person entered the community, moved to another jail, or entered state custody. The direct answer can then be matched to the court disposition and, when needed, an existing written release or transfer record.
Register Holt County Release Alerts
Registration follows the qualifying record, not just the person's name. Open the correct local custody or court result first. Then use the registration control presented by the current interface. The current Missouri channels are SMS and email, so keep the selected phone number or email address accurate and complete the verification step shown on screen.
- Confirm the person and reporting agency before selecting the registration option.
- Sign in or create the required VINELink account if the interface asks.
- Select SMS text, email, or both for the qualifying local jail or court event.
- Complete the verification link, code, or other on-screen confirmation.
- Save the registration and update contact details if they change.
- When a notice arrives, call the named agency and check the court record before drawing a conclusion.
For a state prisoner, do not use this local workflow as a substitute for MODOC registration. Contact MODOC Office of Victim Services directly. Holt County VINELink PIN History
Older Missouri Quick Tips described phone registration. Under that former process, a registrant selected a four-digit PIN and entered it after an automated call to confirm receipt. Those instructions are historical. They explain why old search results may still mention a phone number, voice call, app, or PIN, but they do not describe current delivery after May 5, 2026.
Current Holt County local or court registration should start with SMS or email in VINELink. Current MODOC custody registration starts with the Office of Victim Services. Do not create a voice-call PIN unless the live service and Missouri officials later restore and confirm that feature. An ordinary on-screen verification code for SMS or email is not the same as the old four-digit call PIN.
Confirm a Holt County VINELink Release
Call the Holt County Sheriff's 24-hour lines at 660-822-3001 or 660-822-3002 when the record concerns a local booking. Ask whether that booking remains active. If it ended, ask whether the person was released to the community or transferred. Check Case.net for the legal basis, such as bond, dismissal, judgment, probation, warrant, or state commitment. A court order authorizes action but does not establish the precise door time.
For a MODOC record, use the official state offender search and direct MODOC contact. Public status may confirm supervision or discharge, but the full confinement file can be closed after parole, conditional release, probation, discharge, or death. For federal custody, use the BOP locator. For ICE custody, use the ICE locator and treat a no-result cautiously.
The BOP locator can return “Released” or “Not in BOP custody” with a federal release date for covered historical records, but that says nothing about an unrelated Holt booking. ICE searches use an A-number and country of birth or biographical details. The U.S. Marshals Service has no public locator like BOP for federal pretrial custody. In that setting, the federal court or responsible agency is the proper path. These limits matter because one name can appear in local, state, and federal records at different times.
Limits: VINELink data can lag, a transfer is not community release, and search failure does not prove that custody ended.
Holt County Registry Is Separate
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Sex Offender Registry is a different system. It applies only to people with a registration duty and can show public registry information by name or geography. It does not prove where a person was confined, why custody ended, or when the Holt County release took place. Many released people have no registration duty, so a missing registry result says nothing about release.
Use the registry only for its defined purpose and verify identifiers carefully. It cannot replace VINELink local notifications, MODOC registration, the Holt County Sheriff's release entry, or a court disposition. Keeping these systems separate prevents a registry status from being mistaken for a custody or discharge record.
